On January 7, 2018, the 75th Golden Globes Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, USA. Many famous actresses such as Emma Watson, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Mariah Carey, and Meryl Streep, along with several directors, writers and producers, chose to wear black dresses rather than glamorous dresses. Some actors wore badges labeled Time's Up. Times Up is a group of women working in the Hollywood industry, including actors, writers, directors, and producers, who are working together to resolve sexual harassment and sexual discrimination throughout the United States including Hollywood.

This social issue of sexual harassment has come to the forefront of mainstream media as a result of sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, a prominent American producer in the United States. Weinstein was an influential force in the film industry, actively supported progressive activities, and was an influential member of the American society. The scandal surrounding him began with the New York Times (NYT) report on October 5, 2017. According to interviews with eight victims, he has been habitually raping women and sexually harassing them as he would call them while naked to receive a massage. After the report, even President Donald Trump said, "I've known him for a long time. It is not surprising at all". However, the victims were forced to remain silent under his dominant position and power.

This news report inspired sexual violence victims who had been silent for a while to protest their situations. Wearing black uniforms is one of the Time's Up activities to bring attention to sexual harassment. The black outfit shows a strong sense of solidarity and a collective protest for victims of sexual harassment who have suffered in silence.

Oprah Winfrey, who upon receiving a Golden Globe award, used the moment to further bring the issue of sexual harassment to light. On stage she said, "I thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association", referring to the recent sexual harassment issue in Hollywood, and continued, “What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men. But their time is up. Their time is up. Their time is up”.

Afterwards she received a standing ovation and then added, “I want all the girls watching here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon! And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say, ‘Me too’ again. Thank you”.

Therefore, we should now proceed to make the truth be known and not sit in silence. If there is sexual assault happening where we are, we should change our society by fighting truthfully without being silent anymore.
