Traveling is now a trend. More and more people are seeking rest and freedom from their repetitive lives for a while through traveling. That is why they want to travel during the holiday season. University students are no exception.
For instance, backpacking to Europe is on the bucket list of many university students. Many students can spend the money they earn from part-time work on a trip overseas.
When I see university students around me, they try to go to many nearby cities in Korea. Also, nowadays, they try to go abroad to places in Southeast Asia, such as Vietnam, Laos, and so on because they are not so expensive.
If you want to go somewhere, you should consider your money and time, among other things.
However, before you go, the most important thing to consider is choosing the place you want to go to. There are lots of places, and so many blogs and information on social media, but it is still hard to choose the right place.
The Seowon News surveyed the students of Seowon University and asked what places they wanted to introduce to other students. We divided our travel destinations between Korea and abroad and asked why they recommend that place and what they could do there.
As a result, the most popular Korean destination was ‘Jeju Island’, and ‘Boracay Island’ as the most recommended travel destination among overseas destinations. Take a closer look at the destinations recommended by the following four students.
- Baek Ji-hae (Computer Engineering): I recommend the Korean cities of ‘Yeosu’ and ‘Gyeongju’ because I think there are many things to see such as a lot of good scenery and fun things to do. In Odong island at Yeosu, you can ride a cable car and see Camellia flowers. Also, you can go on the rides in Gyeongju World. In addition, I also recommend ‘Anmun Island’ because you can feel alive and relaxed by digging for seaweed and glamping.
- Lee Ji-hee (Biology Education): Many people think ‘Daejeon’ is not an interesting city, but it is safe, and there are many places to see, such as a science museum and an observatory. At the astronomical observatory in Daejeon, you can enjoy and experience astronomical observations in the dome. We have a special festival once a year, so we can experience even more during that period. The Expo and the Hanbat Arboretum are also good places to take a walk. In addition, Eunhaeng-dong and Dunsan-dong are known as the ‘streets of youth’ and are trendy places, so I recommend you visit those too.
- Kang In-cheol (Department of Social Welfare): These days, a growing number of people prefer exotic or unfamiliar destinations to differentiate themselves from others. India is a tourist destination that requires a lot of stamina, but it is rated higher than other destinations because of the enlightenment you can get there. New Delhi is the Capital city in India, so you can feel the sophisticated and colorful culture immediately. Jaisalmer is a desert city called the Golden city, and you can see the numerous galaxies in the night sky on a camel safari. Also, Agra is the city where the well-known Taj Mahal is located, and you can feel the culture of the Mughal Empire, an Islamic dynasty.
- Lee U-rim (English Education): I recommend St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. This city was prosperous in the 1960s and ‘70s, so you can see the history of the United States. There are also various attractions, such as an art museum, an animal museum, and the arch gateway. I recommend the city museum in particular. Las Vegas and San Francisco are also good places to visit.
The Seowon News hopes this information about various recommended travel destinations will help Seowon University students spend this winter vacation cheerfully.
