Food is like a companion in that it has a very close relationship with human lives. Humans can also get the lifelong nutrition they need through food. While some of foods are beneficial to our health, others can be harmful. Interestingly, some of the foods that we usually consider harmful can actually have positive impacts on our health.

Firstly, let us take a look at beer. According to a study by Italy's Institute of Clinical Health and Medical Science, one to two glasses of beer a day can help to prevent heart disease. More specifically, a moderate amount of beer can reduce the risk of coronary artery disease by 21%. Fermented drinks such as beer, when consumed in moderation, increase healthy HDL cholesterol levels in the body and consequently help to reduce the risk of heart disease.

However, beer is still alcohol. Therefore, drinking more than the recommended amount can bring about adverse health effects. Excessive drinking can also cause various digestive system problems and even cancer. With this in mind, it is more appropriate and beneficial to drink only 350ml a day.

Another food to consider is spicy food. You may have felt heartburn after eating spicy food. At first glance, it may appear to have an bootsy effect on one's health, but it also has a beneficial effect. For instance, the intake of capsaicin in spicy peppers helps to activate the body's immune system, which increases the number of B cells that make white blood cells and antibodies. However, you should be careful because eating a large amount of spicy food can put pressure on your stomach and intestines, which can increase the risk of hypersensitive bowel syndrome.

The next food is chocolate. People tend to think of chocolate as a food item associated with gaining weight and having a generally negative impact on health. However, among the many types of chocolate, dark chocolate in particular, has various positive effects. Eating dark chocolate before and after a meal can reduce appetite, which is good for losing weight. Also, it is rich in dietary fiber, which can promote bowel movement which helps to prevent constipation. In addition, the polyphenols in chocolate help to maintain skin elasticity and this is good for skin care.

There is a saying that "Too much of a good thing can be harmful". The aforementioned foods, of course, have numerous beneficial health effects, but eating too much can bring about adverse effects. Therefore, consuming these food items in moderation is the key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
